The members of The Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland were delighted to welcome a new female member into the dual gender service organisation at their recent dinner meeting. She was inducted into club membership by president, Mary Adams, during her penultimate dinner meeting. The Rotary year starts on July 1, so Mary was pleased to announce that membership now totals 30 active members, of whom seven are female.
Proposed by Rotarian Huw Jones (but no relation), Donna Jones is a local business woman running The Creative Café in Haverfordwest. Throughout her career, she has a commitment to supporting and encouraging those within the community with challenging abilities by providing work placements.
She is married with two children and got to know of the community work that Rotarians do through the Narberth and Whitland Rotary Club Facebook page. Readers can also access this by using the link: @NarberthAndWhitlandRotaryClub.
On the Facebook page, viewers will be able to see all of the service and fun activities organised by the Narberth and Whitland club. Their most recent activity involved hiring a coach to take over 30 local primary school children with their teachers or carers to enjoy a great day at Folly Farm for Kids Out. The Rotary Club are grateful to the Hotel Plas Hyfryd for providing packed lunches for the youngsters and also Folly Farm for allowing entry to the Park. Maybe some of these young people may be future Rotarians - let’s hope so, to continue the good work of this service organisation which does much in the locality for charity.
