To date, we have raised £150,000 and have taken over the pool with a lease for the next 125 years, so if you swim there now, you are swimming in the community's pool.
The only people who can close our pool now are the community, if they don't use it and support it.
We still have to raise the rest of our target, in order to complete our plans for making the pool sustainable for the future by putting in solar panels, but we have already proved what a great community we have and I am sure we will fulfil our plans in the early part of 2015.
2015 is going to be tough for everyone due local authority cuts, but if there have to be cuts, we need to make sure that we have a say in what is cut and what is not.
We are going to lose more swimming pools, public toilets, libraries and other services.
The county council is going to sell off everything they can to make up the present deficit, but what will happen in 10 years time when the financial situation takes a down turn again and there is nothing left to sell?
We must ensure that the cuts in our area are not on the things that are of the most importance to our communities.
PCC have asked local community and town councils to suggest where cuts could be made and are asking them to look at, perhaps taking responsibility for some local provision themselves.
More people need to step up and volunteer, give PCC notice now, that you want to take over your facility to stop them from closing it and selling it off.
If you don't, it will have the same fate as Narberth's old CP School, sold off to developers who don't give a fig about community, they just want to make money. This is my personal opinion, I am not speaking for the town council, but as an individual who loves their community and does not want to see it destroyed.
I hope everyone will look at their area and put forward suggestions on how they think the cuts could be achieved, instead of complaining when the cuts are made on things that are important to their community.
As Mayor of Narberth, I hope 2015 is a good year and everyone gets what they deserve, good health and happiness.
