Tenby Brewing Co invites renowned streetfood business Cwlbox to take over the kitchen at Sandbar, Tenby.

Sandbar - located on Upper Frog Street - was set up by Rob Faulkner and James Beaven in 2016 in addition to their acclaimed business Tenby Brewing Co, it is a popular choice for locals and tourists not only because it offers a relaxed and informal dining experience, but also because they serve a variety of beers, ciders and spirits sourced from independent producers.

Rob said: “The Covid 19 pandemic has been especially tough on the hospitality industry but it’s given us new challenges and opportunities, there have been a couple of silver linings for us as we have been able to concentrate on the brewery and increase our online retail operation dramatically, we have also had time to plan the future of Sandbar with our favourite street food team!

“We’ve known the guys at Cwlbox for a few years, having invited them to host several parties at our premises and through supplying beer at their food hall Y Gegin in Pembroke Dock, so it seemed like a natural progression to work together at Sandbar.

“We’re really excited about this partnership as we can focus on expanding our drinks offering, whilst Cwlbox will focus on the amazing street food they do best!”

Cwlbox was set up in 2018 by Jody and Rhiannon Morgan-Bell along with their friend Damien Bertrand.

Although they’ve only been trading for two years, they’ve already achieved a great deal.

Last year, they set up Pembrokeshire’s first food hall Y Gegin (along with Paternoster Farm) and their food truck, is listed at the top spot on Tripadvisor for best restaurant in Saundersfoot - not bad considering all of their dishes are cooked and served from a small converted horsebox on the beach!

Head chef and owner Jody Bell said: “We’re delighted to be joining forces with Sandbar.

“It is one of our favourite places and they sell the most incredible craft beer so we’re really looking forward to setting up a kitchen there.

“Our menu will include favourites such as Seafood Platters, Bang Bang Prawns, Crispy Squid and Dirty Halloumi and we’ll also be adding some exciting new dishes including brunch which will be served daily from 10.30 am to 3 pm, followed by dinner from 5.30 to 8.30 pm.

“We are really looking forward to getting started!”

Sandbar is currently refurbishing their premises with the aim of allowing customers to enjoy an inside-outside dining experience, complimenting the current Covid 19 crisis by adding maximum airflow to their site.
