A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Cwmbran man stopped in Carew earlier this year for drugs and motoring offences, after he failed to show up for a court hearing this week.
Twenty-four-year-old Anthony Barnby of Bagley Court, was due to appear before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to answer two drugs charges -possessing 31.7 grams of amphetamine; and an amount of cannabis.
He has also been charged with using a motor vehicle in. a public place without third party insurance; and obstructing a police officer in the execution of their duty.
It is alleged that the drug and motoring offences occurred when the Ford Fiesta Mr. Barnby was driving was was pulled over on the A477 in Carew on April 20.
Defence solicitor, Jonathan Webb said that his client had written to the court to ask for an adjournment of his case for seven days as “he had no money to travel.”
However, prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones dismissed this claim, stating: “If he hasn’t got any money this week then he won’t have any money next week!”
Magistrates issued a warrant for the defendant’s arrest without bail, to secure his appearance in court.
