Tenby RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was requested to launch shortly after 12.30pm on Saturday, August 30, following a report that a 14ft vessel with six people on board, two of which were children, was in trouble in rough seas off Amroth.

The lifeboat was quickly on the water and made best speed to the area and the crew soon spotted the vessel between Amroth and Wiseman's Bridge.

Three of the adults and the two children were then transferred to the safety of the lifeboat and a crew member then joined the person remaining on the casualty vessel to give assistance.

As the engine was still working, the lifeboat escorted the vessel as it headed back towards Saundersfoot, but it soon ran out of fuel, so needed to be towed the remaining distance.

With the boat now safely on a mooring outside Saundersfoot, but with the tide out of the harbour and the occupants of the vessel starting to suffer from seasickness, they were taken back on the lifeboat to Tenby and made their way home from there.
