Tenby’s RNLI all-weather lifeboat Haydn Miller was launched at approximately 12.45 pm on Saturday following a report that a gentleman was stuck on a cliff near Broadhaven after climbing down to attempt to rescue his dog that had fallen off.

Units also tasked were Tenby and St. Govans Coastguard and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 187.

The volunteer crew were soon on the water and made best speed to the area.

Once on scene, the crew spotted the casualty clinging to the cliff around 20-foot from the bottom.

The Y boat was then launched and a crew member was put ashore to make contact with the casualty and to reassure him that help was on its way.

The rescue helicopter was soon on scene. They lowered the winchman to retrieve both the casualty and his dog, which had sadly passed away, up to the top of the cliff, where they were met by the coastguard teams.
