A man accused of assault on Amroth beach has been made the subject of a binding over order.
Sixty-year-old Ross Evans, of Hengoed, was charged with assault by beating and appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Monday for his trial after pleading not guilty.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that there was an argument between the defendant and complainant on Amroth Beach on June 8, after their dogs had got into an altercation.
She said Mr. Evans started making jabbing motions with his stick where he hit the complainant.
However, Ms. Vaughan said that issues were raised which the Crown Prosecution Service were not aware of before the trial was due to get underway.
This was mainly down to the defendant having cancer and various knee operations.
As a result, she said it was not in the public interest to pursue the matter further.
Defence solicitor Katie Lingley added that her client accepted that he made the jabbing motion, and appreciated that this may have aggravated factors.
On sentencing, the chairman of the beach said: “For a period of 12 months you must keep the peace between yourself and the complainant.”
The defendant was bound over in the sum of £100 for 12 months to keep the peace between himself and the complainant.
