Emergency services have headed to the St Davids area this afternoon, after a major grassfire has broken out on the outskirts of the Pembrokeshire city.

The fire is said to have started in a crop field around 1.30 pm (August 13) before spreading quickly.

A spokesperson from Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Numerous roads in St Davids are closed due to a fire, please avoid the area.”

Nearby, Hendre Eynon Caravan and Camping Site posted on Facebook: “This large fire is ongoing and the road from us into St Davids is currently closed so please avoid the area.

“Our thoughts are with our friends who have land in that area and the fire service who are doing such a brave and tireless effort to put out the fire and keep the houses safe.”
