Police in Pembrokeshire are warning members of the public of doorstep cold callers offering products such as pressure washers and generators for sale.

This comes following a number of reports of suspicious men approaching the public in this manner today, trying to sell this type of boxed up machinery from the back of vans in the Haverfordwest and Fishguard areas.

Superintendent Anthony Evans said: “Please be vigilant, and warn your friends, family and neighbours, particularly elderly or vulnerable neighbours who may not be online or on social media, not to open the door to strangers or buy or sell on the doorstep.

“Some doorstep callers may offer poor quality goods at inflated prices, and you will not be protected as you would if you were to purchase goods from reputable businesses.

“Please keep in mind that if cold callers don’t get any sales in your area, they are less likely to return.”

You can report any suspicious doorstep incidents and doorstep fraudsters, by calling 101.
