A 15-year-old boy remains missing after getting into difficulty in the sea at Marloes Sands, Milford Haven over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Two others self-rescued, but a search operation involving Dyfed-Powys Police and the RNLI has been stood down.

A police spokesperson issued the following update on Tuesday (September 1) afternoon: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a request for assistance from HM Coastguard, following a report of three people getting into difficulty at Marloes Sands, Milford Haven on Sunday, August 30.

“Two of the three individuals self-rescued, returning themselves safely to shore.

“A 15-year-old boy, visiting on holiday from the Yorkshire area, remains unaccounted for, and a multi-agency search was launched.Search teams from Dyfed-Powys Police, HM Coastguard and the RNLI deployed several resources, conducting searches from the air, the sea, and nearby land.

“The multi-agency response has now been stood down, and the family have been informed of this decision.

“Our thoughts remain with the boy’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time,” they added.

St David’s RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew were one rescue service that spent many hours supporting the multi-agency search coordinated by HM Coastguard from Sunday 30 to Monday, 31 August, following reports of a missing swimmer at Marloes Sands.

“We would like to thank everyone involved in the search effort. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the missing person,” said a spokesperson for St David’s RNLI.

A spokesperson for Angle RNLI shared: “A huge thank you to our crew who have shown immense dedication over the past two days, and a thank you goes to Milford Haven Coastguard for their fantastic coordination and support in what has been a lengthy and tiring incident for our crew.

“Our thoughts are with the swimmer’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
