Pembrokeshire U13s opening batsmen Toby Poole and Kieran Griffiths put on an amazing performance recently when Pembrokeshire played West Glamorgan in a Cricket Board of Wales Cup competition at Saundersfoot Cricket Club.
The two young Welsh batsmen put on a record-breaking opening stand of 187 for the first wicket, with Poole unluckily falling just short of a century on 93 and Griffiths finishing on 103 not out.
Pembrokeshire finished on 289 for 1 in 40 overs, the innings also being superbly supported by the classy left-hand batsmen from Kilgetty, Liam Cullen, who finished on 65 not out.
West Glamorgan finished on 189 for 8 off their 40 overs, with excellent bowling by Kieran O'Connor from Fishguard, who had figures of 3 for 17, helping to give the Pembrokeshire boys a worthy win and putting them in a strong position to reach the semi-finals of this Cricket Wales competition.
Pembrokeshire U13s 144 for 5
Gwent 141 for 6
A hot Malpas Cricket Club in Newport recently saw Pembrokeshire beat Gwent in a Cricket Board of Wales Cup competition.
Gwent won the toss and batted first. A brilliant bowling spell by the talented Sean Coaker, of Narberth, of 4 for 31 off eight overs, backed up by an excellent spell of controlled off-spin by Toby Poole, eight overs for 12 runs, and the pace of Tom Murphy, eight overs for 26 runs, restricted the talented Gwent side to 141 for 6.
Kilgetty star Liam Cullen came to the crease with just 21 on the board and batted the innings of his life, smashing 14 boundaries, including a well-timed six over mid-wicket. His kilgetty team-mate Jack Tucker also played an aggressive, hard-hitting knock of 16 to see Pembrokeshire across the finishing line in just 28 overs, with Cullen carrying his bat on a superb 73 not out.

Felinfoel Cricket Club was the venue for this pre-season friendly for the young lads, where Pembrokeshire bowlers did the damage on a soft early-season wicket.
