In the first league game of the season, Whitland Youth were the victors against a useful Narberth side on Saturday.
Narberth were unable to cope with the pace and power of Whitland, especially the back row, who supplied good fast quality ball to the half-backs. This enabled outside-half Steffan James to control the game and bring his outside backs into the game at every opportunity.
The first try was scored by Ryan Davies after 10 minutes, converted by Steffan James, who extended the lead a few minutes later with a well-taken penalty after Narberth killed the ball at a ruck.
Narberth responded and towards the end of the first half managed to sneak in the corner from a well-worked move from Narberth 10 Iwan Bowen-Rees.
The Whitland eight continued to dominate, allowing the speedy Ryan Davies to help set up Jerone Conlon for the third try, before gaining his own second mid-way through the second half.
The game was excellently refereed by Eirain Edwards.
Whitland scorers: Ryan Davies (two tries), Steffan James (two conversions and three penalties), Jerome Conlon (one try).
