Spectators at the Bierspool ground, Pembroke Dock, enjoyed a fine hard fought game of youth rugby on Saturday, with Whitland Youth, the visiting team using both forwards and backs combining well to beat a very big Quins youth side.

It took the visitors 13 minutes to claim the first try after they disrupted the scrum resulting in pressure on the Quins halfbacks who failed clear the ball into touch. Whitland backs moved the ball quickly across the field for Ryan Davies to score.

Another strong scrum led to the second try by centre Jamie Harries on the stroke of half-time.

Steffan James added the extra points with a well-taken conversion.

The second half started the same with the Whitland forwards dominating the game.

A well-worked driving maul from a lineout 15 metres out resulted in the third try of the afternoon touched down by number 8 Charlie Preece.

Pembroke Dock responded with some robust play using their big players to batter the Whitland defence and were unlucky on a couple of occasions not to come away with a try of their own.

Ryan Davies conjured up a spectacular drop goal from the halfway line. This seemed to demoralise the homeside allowing Whitland to regained control of the game for the final 10 minutes combining their forwards and backs to run in a further two very well-worked tries. Preece getting his second and Harries his double in the final minute of the game. Both were converted by Steffan James.

The referee was Mr. Huw Jones.
