Tenby United 6

Only one game was played in National League division three west on Saturday - and that was Tenby United's match at Llanybydder.

And perhaps at the end of the encounter, the United might have wished it had been called off like all the others in the section.

The rest had been postponed because of ground conditions due to heavy rain in the days previous.

And not surprisingly the conditions at Llanybydder also played a major part in the outcome of this tussle, with the heavy going underfoot not being conducive to the United's usual free-flowing style of play.

Nevertheless, going into the game, they must have still been quietly confident of notching their 12th win of the season against a team who started five places lower in the league and 20 points adrift of them.

And things began well enough for the visiting Seasiders when they opened their account with a penalty from the boot of scrum-half Jonathan Rogers.

Outside-half Barry Thomas replied with another for the hosts and, as it turned out, that's the way it remained at the break, with neither side being able to take advantage of the few try chances which were being created in the difficult conditions.

And it was a similar story in the second half as the two kickers again swopped penalties - and that was that, a hard earned draw, with the spoils being shared.

To be fair, Tenby did look as if they had scored on one occasion when the speedy Damien Miller crossed the line, but unfortunately was denied after being deemed to have brushed the touchline.

Although it was another point gained by the United in their quest for division three honours, it was also two points lost as they currently lie in third position, four points behind league leaders Penclawdd. And they have another tough match ahead of them tomorrow (Saturday) when they entertain second placed Gorseinon at Heywood Lane.
