Dyfed League
The wind was blowing in from the sea and the clouds threatened some heavy rain, but the first pairing of Meurig Evans and Matt Adams teed off against a very strong Cardigan pairing who took the game 2 and 1.
Next away was our young pairing of Ben Price and Sam Anderson again coming up against a tough Cardigan duo also lost 2 and 1.
Third out were Richard (Tiger) Davies and Gerald John, two very steady and accurate players showing how to win away in style, coming out 5 and 4 winners.
Next out was Martin Yates and Billy Truman who proved too much for the home pairing and came in 4 and 3 winners.
As the wind strengthened and clouds got darker, the next pairing of Steff Jones and Robin Lloyd were away, unfortunately the home pairing proved too strong on this occasion and won 4 and 3.
The penultimate pairing of Adam Thorne and Malcolm Ruff also came up against very strong home pairing and also came in with a 4 and 3 loss.
Finally, with even stronger winds and darkening skies, the last pair of John Calleja and Gareth Roberts were away. The started well gaining a three-hole cushion, only to see the home pair get back to level terms after 16 holes. The visitors won the match 2 up just as the heavens opened to give the course a good soaking!
The course played well, the greens were excellent as the home team gained a 4-3 win. It was a good away performance from Trefloyne and some valuable points gained.
The weather was dry and fine after a very wet week. The course was in fantastic condition and after a bit of friendly banter on the practice green the first pairing were ready to do battle!
First out were Gavin Scotcher and Simon Arthur, a very experienced pair who took the game to the visitors with some great golf, eventually taking the match 5 and 4.
Next out were Ben Price and Meurig Evans, a very even match was reported, but some outstanding putting from the away team finally saw this match go to the home pair 2 up.
Third pairing out were Martin Yates and Billy Truman trying to build on their fine win away at Cardigan once again proved too good for their opponents on this occasion coming in with a 5 and 4 win.
Out next were Matt Adams and Sam Anderson, this match going all the way to the last hole with the home pairing winning the 18th to win 1 up.
Fifth out were Andy Burgess and Adam Thorne who came up against a very strong Tenby pairing who took the match 2 and 1.
Home pairing Malcolm Ruff and Robin Lloyd out next also found their opponents were on top form, again the away team winning 2 and 1.
Last out were Gareth Roberts and John Calleja also looking to add to their winning streak came in with a hard fought 4 and 3 win.
Overall a great 5-2 home win for Trefloyne against a very strong Tenby team. The sun was beaming as drinks and food were shared out on the terrace as some old friends discussed the return meeting at Tenby in September, until then.........enjoy!
Next match, Derllys Court, away, on Saturday, July 7.

Brian Anderson Trophy (nine hole roll up)
A good turnout once again with four players finishing on 18 points, however the beer vouchers were won by Grant Hardy on his first outing. A special mention must go to Josh Hawkes who after nine holes had amassed two points, minus one point for being a previous winner leaving a nett of one point. In mitigation, he has only been married for a month, poor lad is worn out.

Saturday Proshop stableford: 1. P. Mazusczak (36 points); 2. Peter Day (35); 3. Rob Evans (35).

JUNIORS SHINE AT TREFLOYNE SUMMER MEETING
Wednesday, June 6, saw over 30 junior golfers take to the course for the annual junior summer meeting.
On a beautiful sunny afternoon, three competitions were held involving an 18 hole stableford, nine hole flag competition and three hole challenge.
With a fantastic score of 39 points, club championship nett winner George Taylor took the spoils and another handicap adjustment.
The nine hole flag competition, involving several former Tiny Tigers was well-attended with many of the field playing nine holes for the first time. Ella Harley came out on top reaching the eighth green with her 54 shots. A special mention must go to the Tiny Tigers, Craig, George, Conner and Harvey who completed the three hole challenge playing the 16th/17th and 18th hole.
Following the golf, food was provided by the junior section. A huge thank you to Sue Ensor for all her hard-work and fundraising.
The day was concluded with a presentation of golf prizes, and to those juniors who had been attending the academy over the past few weeks.
A large percentage of the section have been involved with the academy under the watchful eye of head professional Oliver Duckett and academy coach James Maxwell.
The academy is open to all juniors aged three-16 and offers a structured programme of coaching in a fun and relaxed environment. Please call Ollie or James on 845639 for more details.
Please remember junior fun sessions are on-going, every Sunday 10.30 am - 11.30 am (under 10s) and 11.30 am -12.30 pm (11+). These cost just £1 and are a great opportunity to introduce budding golfers to the game.
Junior members are invited to play in the weekly competition every Sunday at 1 pm.
