Finals Night of the Coors Molson Coors Tenby and District Pool League got underway with maybe two of the youngest Doubles winners in the history of the league, which started back in 1979. Winners were 21-year-old Marc Thomas and Tom James, aged 16, who beat two very good players, Will Gardner and Matt Fry, by a margin of 4-1. Table two saw the Ladies final, with two sisters from the Three Mariners getting through to play each other. Also there to keep an eye on proceedings was dad Keith May, who saw daughter Lydia beat her sister Lucy 3-1. Then the Under 21s was played, Tom James beating an in-form Josh Merrix 3-1, and this was followed by the Landlords, which was a real thriller, going to a deciding frame before Ray Newell overcame Roger Stanford. The Captains final saw a great win for Marc Thomas over Gareth Dean, who himself played very well despite the 4-0 scoreline. The team knockout was played on two tables, but was all over in a hurry as the Wisemans Bridge completed a convincing 5-0 whitewash of Saundersfoot Sports Club. It was then on to the main final of the night, the singles, with the light only on one table and all spectators eagerly awaiting the clash between youngster Tom James again and Mark Davis. Tom took the first two frames, before Mark hit back to take the third. The next two were shared to make the score 3-2, while, as it turned out, the next proved to be a gripping last frame, with Tom eventually potting the most important black of his life to be crowned the youngest ever winner of the Molson Coors Tenby and District Pool League singles title.
