Narberth 2 Merlin's Bridge 4

Narberth dropped points at Jesse Road for the first time this season, as they went down 4-2 against Merlin's Bridge. This result has surely ended any hopes the Bluebirds may have had about winning this season's championship, as current champions Hakin United remain undefeated and look set to retain their crown.

Narberth had their resources stretched to the limit, with several players unavailable, and were 1-0 down inside the first 10 minutes, as Steve McNabney volleyed into the roof of the net.

However, Narberth were soon level as a dangerous looking cross by Morgan Preece was deflected into his own net by Bridge defender Matthew D'Ivry.

Bridge were soon in front again, though, as Nathan Green hammered a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Narberth missed the chance to draw level when Adi Jones saw his penalty saved by Carl Woodhouse after Matthew Price had been brought down by Peter Thomas. It wasn't long before the home side had another chance from the spot after Woodhouse clattered Preece. Price levelled matters with the resulting penalty.

Twenty seconds of the half remaining and Hudgell set up McNabney to put the Bridge in front again.

Midway through the second half, McNabney completed his hat-trick with a stunning free-kick.

Inside the last 10 minutes, Bridge were reduced to 10 men as D'Ivry was given his marching orders for handling the ball inside the area; Woodhouse saved the resulting penalty from Price.

This completed a miserable afternoon for the Bluebirds.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Narberth visit Johnston.
