Manorbier Football Club were mourning the loss of a great servant and great man before Saturday's game.

'Shay' Nally sadly passed away in the week. For over 30 years he and his late wife washed the kit and kept the changing rooms in tip top condition. I, Michael Ryder, will never forget that happy man who used to greet both teams, home and away, as they arrived at the Camp pitch, Manorbier, and will be sadly missed. Before Saturday's game, Manorbier Second v Lamphey Seconds, a minute's silence was held in his memory.'

The game got off to a flyer, with manager Mike Brown opening the scoring with a neat and tidy flick.

Manorbier had the bit between their teeth, with good chances coming from everywhere. Before long, the second goal came with a lay-off from Ryder to Will Cowen, who made no mistake with an 18-yard piledriver into the corner.

The half-time score was two-nil and Manorbier could taste blood.

Mike Brown came up with the third - a goal of the season contender - as he hammered the ball into the top corner. 'Take a bow,' was the cry from the Manorbier faithful.

Then came his hat-trick when James Hall cut through the Lamphey defence like a hot knife through butter and was brought down by the 'keeper. A penalty was awarded and off for an early shower he went, up stepped a confident Brown, who made no mistake from the spot.

Then his fourth and fifth came, before Ryder made it seven with a tidy tap-in.

Manorbier made a few changes and on came a fresh faced young Zak Thomas, who made it eight with his first senior goal.

It was an all round excellent display and a great three points, which sees them move up the table.
