Tenby played with confidence and penned Milford in their own half for long periods. Jamie Hirst, Finley Guy and the 'pocket rocket' Billy Riley all went close to scoring, but the home defence stood firm and counter-attacked at every opportunity.
Before the interval, the deadlock was finally broken, when Riley collected a loose ball and unleashed a tremendous shot which just eluded the outstretched hand of the Milford goalie, but managed to squeeze inside the far post.
At the start of the second half, it was the turn of the home team to put the pressure on their opponents. But as the Milford defence did in the first period, the Tenby defence of Leo Reeve, Kieran Taylor and Dylan Creese did in the second. They tackled with great gusto and when their line was breached, goalie Jamie Hirst (who went between the sticks in the second half) pulled off several stunning saves.
Tenby weathered this storm and regained some composure and stretched their lead when Rueban James ended a flowing move with a great finish. Dylan Noot then sent a long ball up field and the race was on between Billy Riley and the Milford goalie as to who would get to it first. They both got to the ball at exactly the same time and Billy, being a little lighter than his opponent, flew five yards over the goalie and into the Milford goal.
As both teams tired on a heavy pitch, Tenby launched one last attack as Finley Guy threaded a ball through to Rueban James, who found himself in plenty of space to thump the ball home for Tenby's third goal.
Tenby Under 11s have a home game tomorrow (Saturday) against Kilgetty - weather permitting!
