Dinghy Racing - Sunday’s race took place in light airs and warm sunshine.

Race Officer Peter Randles and assistant Dewi Jackson managed a small fleet , and laid a two mark course for them to drift around, with Peter Rose and Igor Otahal in Scorpion 1995 taking first place.

Training: Tenby Sailing Club hosted two RYA courses on the weekend of October 7 and 8 for candidates from across the UK.

On Saturday four candidates took part in the RYA’s Regional Race Officer course involving a considerable amount of theory based work in the club with use of the club’s full set of race flags accompanied by a late afternoon session afloat on the club’s RIBs to put the theory into practice, particularly the laying of start lines, which the Race Officer would be most involved with during an event.

The Sunday saw even more pleasant conditions for eight candidates including three TSC members to take part in the RYA’s Regional Mark Layer course consisting of a theory based morning session including equipment demonstrations followed by an afternoon session afloat where the candidates were tested on laying accurate trapezoid courses with two leeward gates.

The TSC members will be sharing their experience with the wider team and using it to enhance racing events in Tenby next season.

The weekend also saw TSC supporting Saundersfoot Sailing Club with the Powerboat Level 2 course they were running to train new safety boat crew for events held throughout the season by both sailing clubs.
