“It’s horrendous out there” was the call from the young rescue boat crew of Dewi and Ruby immediately prior to launching for Sunday’s last sail of the ‘Brass Monkey’ series!
Three singlehanders bravely headed out anyway to have a practice session, being met by a very confused sea with a brisk Nor’ Easter hitting the pier and sending waves back out into the swell, enabling the rare experience of surfing and planning into the wind! As time passed the wind eased off making conditions ever more manageable and rather enjoyable.
Twelve boats competed in our extended winter series with nine races held. 1st overall was the Phantom of Jon Nuttal with 1st junior being Nina Marsh.
Well done both and massive thanks to the volunteer rescue boat crews and PROs.
Racing switches back to Saturdays and Tuesdays from April 1 with the bar being open on both days.
