Due to the sailing club’s regatta on Saturday, June 30, the commodore’s quiz and league this month will be held tomorrow (Saturday). All money raised goes to the RNLI. Quiz entry is £5 for a team of up to six people or £1 if you think you can go it alone. Please come down and support this worthy cause.
Membership fees are now overdue; please renew your membership as soon as possible. All those members not renewing and who are in possession of a fob for access to the toilets and showers, please return them to the club. All those not returned will be deactivated at the end of the month on or around June 30.
Dinghy Racing
Saturday afternoon was breezy with very strong gusts. Of the sailors that came down to Tenby, only three boats left the shore. The first race was started after Jamie had to take a quick dip after his rudder had detached itself. The first and only race was abandoned, due to strong winds. Only Jon in the RS Vareo posted a time of 22 minutes. Racing continues next Saturday, 5 pm, and Tuesday, 7 pm.
Juniors
A large turnout, but very calm at first. Fortunately, by the time the boats were on the water, a light breeze had filled in and each group managed some sailing. A few adults also joined in the training.
As usual, the bar and BBQ were very busy afterwards. Again, many thanks to all the helpers.
A reminder that there will be a training weekend at Tenby SC this weekend, June 23 and 24. There will be visiting race coaches on the Saturday and racing on the Sunday. If you wish to take part, please reserve a club dinghy for your use. It’s an opportunity to really improve your sailing. Any confident Stage 2 and above welcome.
Cruiser racing
The course had to be changed last minute due to sea fog rolling in.
Aries and Slipstream had an exciting duel, passing all marks neck and neck. Slipstream won on handicap. Heather retired due to potential visibility problems.
