Club Sailing
Three Ospreys hit the water on Sunday in a light northerly breeze, for the two races run by Jo Musson. Jo set a triangular port course with upwind start.
At the start of the first race, Jaime/Griff used the windward boat rule to squeeze out the Alistairs trying to barge in at the line. The Alistairs then got tangled in the rib’s anchor line, and by the time they sorted it out, it was race over!
Lucas/Carwyn generously helped Jaime/Griff by sailing the wrong course; rounding the windward mark to starboard and looking for a gybe mark that wasn’t there! No surprise that the race was won by Jaime/Griff, from Lucas/Carwyn, then the Alistairs.
A second race followed immediately in slightly stronger wind, with no reported mistakes or misbehaviour, but with the same result. Another pleasant morning’s sailing in the winter series.
Juniors
Next meeting will be the junior party on Friday, December 9, at 7 pm.
Winter series
The club`s dinghy winter series started on the first Sunday in October and will continue, weather permitting, until Boxing Day. There will be two races back to back on each Sunday morning starting at 11 am. Sailors from other clubs are invited. For a charge of £20, visitors will be entitled to enter all races, store their boat in the club dinghy park, and to membership of the club until new year.
Blues night
at the club
Last Saturday evening saw a pleasant and successful evening at the club. Volunteers turned up early to move furniture, sort out the bar and get the rugby on. After that, it was full on, with lots of visitors for the Blues night band. Volunteers staffed the bar and did a great job, raising significant funds for the club. Thanks and well done to all involved.
