Club Sailing
No wind on Saturday prevented any sailing despite attempts by frustrated sailors. However, on Tuesday, a lightish westerly permitted the first race in more than a fortnight.
Two Ospreys, an RS200 and a Laser contested the evening race run by Jon Nuttal. Initial congestion on the start line soon resolved and at the first windward mark, Ted/Lucas rounded first and they sailed on to take the win; behind them the RS200 of Dan Jackson, sailing with five-year-old daughter Scarlet, kept up well and they took second from Dyfan/Steve in their Osprey and then Richard in the Laser.
Cruiser Racing
Six boats were getting ready for the race last Saturday, but engine problems reduced it to four.
Then some radios on the wrong channel meant the course and starting signals were not received by everyone, resulting in only two starting on time.
However, even with a delayed start, Denny Young in Heather slowly closed up with the fleet and once again could not be shaken off by the faster boats. Heather had an easy win on handicap, with Slipstream second, Beagle third and Accolade retired, being caught in the ebb tide down the Sound. It is hoped to run a race at 6 pm this (Friday) evening.
Redwing Nationals
The Redwing National Championship has just concluded at the Isles of Scilly Sailing Club. Tenby was represented by the three boats of Alex and Ruth, Bill and Nan and Mike and Deanna. A very enjoyable week was had and all posted decent mid-fleet results in a revived 30-boat fleet. Well done to them.
