Darts

Does practice work or matter? In the pre-match warm-up captain, Terry Evans, was awesome, but as soon as the match started he might as well have aimed at the moon. Yes we lost, but the margin of defeat was diminished slightly. After a bad start, Paul Thomas stemmed the losing streak for a nano-second, before we lurched back into our losing ways. By the time we won the next game we had lost the match and in some cases lost the plot! We did finish with a flourish when we actually took another two games. The evening was a non-entity as far as darts were concerned, but all agreed that it was an entertaining and enjoyable one. No darts this evening, but practice is mandatory, even if the captain doesn't improve.

Fixture List

Would members and friends please note that the new season's fixture lists are available and are also on the website. Start planning your sailing well in advance.

Social Programme

Please support the club's efforts on the social front. Just a few immediate dates to note - Terry Evans has agreed to put on a Cheese and Cawl evening on March 3. On Saturday, March 17, there will be a '70s and '80s Bop 'til you Drop and on March 24 there will be a Bangladeshi Banquet, a feast to behold. More details next week.

Bangladeshi Banquet

This will take place on Saturday, March 24. I understand the demand for tickets has been such that the evening is now fully subscribed.

Surf or Turf Evening

A high turnout enjoyed great steaks and tasty fish prepared by Terry Evans, ably assisted by Karin Morris and Helen Williams. It was good to see the club full of members and friends enjoying fine food and superb company. Many thanks to Terry, Karin and Helen for their gargantuan efforts in feeding the masses.

Six Nations

The eagerly-awaited clash between Wales and England will be shown on our big screen. Kick-off at 4 pm - don't miss it!

Subscriptions and Weekly Draw

It's that time of year. Yes, the annual subscriptions are due. This year we are running a weekly draw which can only be won if you are present in the club when the draw is made and you are a paid up member. See below.

Weekly Draw

The seventh draw took place last Saturday which resulted in a rollover as the owner of the winning ticket was not present. The draw was independently verified by the draw master, Paul Redford. The next draw takes place tomorrow (Saturday) evening at 9 pm when the prize will be £60. Please note - you must be present and have your membership card with you to claim the prize!

Jam Evening

Wednesday's jam session was a most enjoyable affair, with all present participating and contributing a variety of music. Many thanks to Nic Thomas and Terry Evans for co-ordinating the evening. The next acoustic jam will take place on Monday, February 27. It's the place to be!

Humour

As the result of a near mutiny, an overbearing and arrogant captain was forced to see a psychiatrist by order of the commodore. As soon as the captain became comfortable on the couch, the psychiatrist began the session by asking the captain, "Why don't you start at the beginning?" The captain said, "Okay. In the beginning I created heaven and the earth..."

Opening Hours

We have returned to winter openings of Friday, Saturday evenings and for occasional functions which will be advertised. Why not call in for a 'lemonade' - there are not many 'watering holes' with a vista like ours.

Website

Information on club activities etc. can be found on the club's website.

This is a very friendly and welcoming club which endeavours to involve all members in a variety of activities. Contact any member who will be delighted to furnish you with further details.
