Tenby U8s

Last Sunday, nine boys from the Under 8s team travelled to St. David's for their last match of 2012. Despite having a small team, the boys were eager to get started and give it their all.

With St. David's having such a huge turnout, it was decided that two games should be played. Jake Henson was captain for their first match, and as soon as the whistle went, the boys pushed hard, showing excellent defence.

A try came from Rhys Richards, and soon to follow was another in the left corner by Jasey Brace, after a quick dash to the line by Harry Malone. Jasey scored again, after a run from the halfway line, which left the opposition stunned by his speed!

Rhys bagged another cracking try for Tenby, as St. David's were out of touch, after a pass from Harry inches from the try line.

The Tenby side dominated possession, with every player giving 100 per cent. Hudson Diment, Finlay Drummond and Matty Fox were quick to grab tags, and helped keep Tenby's defence strong! A third try for Jasey brought the score to 5-2 at half-time, and St. David's named him Usain Bolt!

After a quick water break, the boys were eager to get re-started. St. David's tried hard to close the gap, but Harry scored in the right corner. Tenby showed great unity in their play and soon turned the tide with a try by Oliver Palin, who side-stepped his way through. Jake Henson, showing great skill, also scored, followed by a run down the wing by Alfie Evans, bringing the final score to 9-5 at full-time.

With spirits high, a second game was to be played, and Oliver Palin was chosen to be captain. Iori Badham from the Under 7s team joined to play 10-a-side. It was great to see how well the boys played as a team, and supported each other so well. All the boys were full of smiles, and everyone could see how much fun they were having!

Rhys scored two tries in a row for Tenby, and stunned the opposition with his performance. Iori scored for Tenby just before the half-time whistle after a knock-on from St. David's.

Great passing and tagging by Hudson, Finlay and Harry kept St. David's on their toes in the second half, and Iori scored again after a quick sprint to the line. The saints coach commented on our 'super team' and said all the boys showed great game awareness. Iori side-stepped his way through and scored in the right corner, and a try from Matty came straight after, when he dived over the try line. Great skill came from Alfie, Oliver and Jake by grabbing successive tags forcing turnover ball, which resulted in Iori's final try of the match, with an end result of 7-5 to the Seasiders!

The boys ended the match on a high, and went to the clubhouse for sausage and chips! Well done boys and a great way to end 2012.

Thanks to the parents for their continuous support, and to the team who put in their hard work training, and to the coaches Delwyn and Tim.

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year Under 8s, and good luck to those of you who are taking part in the New Year's Day Swim to raise money to improve the pitch and facilities at The Clicketts.

TENBY U10s

On a wintry day, Chris Hughes's team of Under 10's made the long trip north to St. Davids. With only seven players available, they knew a tough game lay ahead for the final match of 2012.

Good early work from the forwards, Charlie, Max and Taz, provided excellent ball for the backs of Archie, Alex, Dylan and Harvey to use.

Four first half tries were all converted by Alex, which led to a half time score of 28-5.

Despite being outnumbered, the tries continued to flow after the break, with four more, all excellently converted by Alex.

The final whistle blew with coach Chris pleased with the commitment and skill shown by all in a final score of Tenby 56-St. Davids 15. Congratulations boys.

Tenby U13s

The Andrew Price U13s game against Tumble away on Sunday was lost to the weather, so another was arranged against St. David's 13s/14s. Captain for the day was Kieran Allen, who led by example and ended up scoring three tries for all his hard work.

Thomas H. Jones also added three tries with his silky running. Lorcan Williams added two tries from the wing. Tenby played an all-round game, with the ball being worked from one end of the field to the other.

Tenby's handling was excellent, as well as ball retention. Tenby's backs looked dangerous and had the cutting edge to work past the opposition. Lewys Thomson and Max Brindley worked superbly well in midfield as both caused problems with their running game and both ended up scoring. Harri Williams added a great solo try as he jinked his way through.

Ben Rees caught the eye during the second half with his support work and showed great skill in scoring. Monty Kirner had another fantastic try from his wing berth and has really come on since the start of the season.

The backs wouldn't have scored all the tries if it wasn't for the hard working forwards, who tackled, jackled and offloaded all game. The forwards ran hard and straight and maintained possession throughout. A lot of the players played really well and were looking to off-load out of the tackle and keep the ball in hand.

Credit must be given to St. David's, who worked hard all game and scored two great tries of their own. Tenby won the game 62-12.

Tenby played 24 players, with all players having a good run, with the coaches also looking at players in different positions.

The squad is in good shape, despite there being at least eight players unavailable last week, and there have been two new signings this week who will start in January.

The coaches are blessed with a big squad which looks to be in a healthy position for the new year.

Tenby fielded: Dylan Scotcher, Monty Kirner, Ben Rees, Lewys Thomson, Max Brindley, Harri Williams, Ben Millward, Harrison Duckett, Dan Lewis, Lorcan Williams, Dom Booth, Morgan Rees, Tom Rees, James C. Richards, Parry Phillips, Jevon Thomas, Owain Evans, Kieran Allen (capt.), William Swales, Alex Probert, Billy Kinnear, Thomas H. Jones, Ben James.
