Ten-and-half (I'll explain later) Trotters toured the Tenby terrain on February 8, and although the weather forecast said cloudy, but fine, there was an extended downpour of sleet and hail at about 09:00 which really posed the question 'What am I doing out here?'
The answer from Tony Morris was: "I'm getting saturated!" so he left after three holes and squelched back to the clubhouse. So, what started as an 11 player field was now reduced to 10 - but 10.5 on average (sort of).
Amazingly, as Tony departed, so the clouds started to disperse, the rain and hail abated and the surviving chickens were able to enjoy a more pleasant - albeit extremely breezy - round of golf.
The conditions caused the par for the day to be 23 points for the 15 hole trot - a score easily beaten by the winners, as announced by Chief Trotter Mickey Johnston:
In fourth place, winning nothing, losing no strokes and not at all unhappy with his 25 points - Newman Vincent.
Third with 26 points, winning 50p and losing one stroke, Mike Fox.
In second place was Brian Waters, whose 27 points attracted 70p and a cut of three strokes.
The winner, whose drives have improved exponentially since he discovered the tall grey tee peg, was Bart Youll. Bart's excellent 27 points won him £1 and a five - yes five - stroke reduction.
There was just the one two this week, scored by Mike Fox on the 12th hole. Mike pocketed 50p for this fine single putt, bringing his day's winnings up to a grand sum of £1, which could, if successfully invested in a winning National Lottery ticket on Saturday, attract millions of pounds! Dream on!
Meurig Jones, who only recently was enjoying a purple patch of high scoring, plummeted down the pecking order to claim the booby prize of 30p, along with a handicap increase of two strokes.
And that is the full story of the 13th trot of the 2012/2013 season. Interestingly, secretary (and Rabbits champion) Steve Cole announced that he had discovered from the records that on this day 15 years ago, there was a field of 51 trotters - and Mike Fox finished in sixth place. A gradual improvement then!
No swans on the fairways this week, and the course is obviously drying out. It was noted that in the large pool on the 14th fairway the water level only reached the gull's chests!
Seniors gallop round 18 obstacles - including water jumps!
I felt that I simply must make some passing reference to the horseflesh issue, so now that I have trotted out the heading, we can proceed with more stable fare!
A total of 42 Seniors poured out onto the course on Tuesday, February 12, taking advantage of a chilly, but fine day with not too much wind. The target for the day was to perform really well in this, the 11th qualifying eclectic of the current season, both to try and win the day's round and to drop scores on individual holes.
These aims were met with varying degrees of success by the field, but only the following contenders succeeded in their endeavours:
With 38 points off a handicap of 19, that consistent golfer Paul Nixon claimed fourth place. Also with 38 points with a handicap of 16 was Graham Jenkins, a better back nine ensured that Graham claimed third place. Second with 39 points off a handicap of 17 was the frequently 'mentioned in dispatches', Tony Morris.
Racing away from the pack to claim a famous victory by scoring a huge 41 points off a handicap of 14 was Mel Neale - an urgent email was dispatched to the Trefloyne handicap secretary - mainly because you looked like the cat that got the cream when you collected your prize Mel!
We learned that Hywell Probert was forced to retire early in his round due to ill health today. All the Seniors send their best wishes and hope that you get well soon Hywell - otherwise there will be a collection for an expensive get well card!
Brian (Charity King) Morgan struck gold again this week. The National Lottery Thunderball number on Saturday was 28, which was not drawn by anybody, so the takings are poured directly into Brian's capacious kitty - better luck next week chaps!
Only one player managed to birdie a par three, and that was Stan Hudson on the sixth - it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.
And that concludes this rivetting bulletin from the this band of old and bold golfers, it's Shrove Tuesday and I'm off to feast on my wife's delicious pancakes!

January medal played at last
Last weekend saw the playing of the re-arranged January monthly medal. It should have been played a few weeks back, but weather conditions and a flooded course meant that it had to be postponed until another date.
Saturday was that date and, although conditions on this occasion were not exactly ideal either, there was some good scoring over the slightly shortened course; shortened because the lake which remains on the 18th fairway means that the last hole is still playing as a par three instead of four. Nevertheless, this did provide an extra opportunity for players to bag a birdie two, which some did to take a share of the twos kitty.
Leading scores and prize winners were as follows:
Division One: 1. Mark Griffiths 79-12-67 (medal plus £40); 2. Roger Schooling 77-9-68 (£30); 3. Kyran Lewis 78-9-69, on countback (£20); 4. Jeremy Morris 78-9-69 (£10); 5. Robert Willcox 79-9-70.
Division Two: 1. Brian Diment 87-20-67 (medal plus £40); 2. Richard Reed 87-17-70 (£30); 3. Jeffrey Haley 93-22-71 (£20); 4. Ross James 92-20-72, on countback (£10); 5. Hugh Phillips 97-25-72.
Twos: Peter Brown, Mark Griffiths, Jeffrey Haley, Andrew Morton, Nic Rogers, Mervyn Tucker, Neil Webb, Darren Thomas, Chris Beecher, Vivian John, Simon Toy, Allen Watts, Nick Allen, Brian Cramb, Kyran Lewis, Richard Ormond (£5.18 each).
Bag draw: D. Thomas, M. Smiddy, J. Morris, R. James, O. James (£16.40 each).
Pro Shop draw: G. Evans (Footjoy shoes).
