Des Rees, Mike Smith and Paula Smith took part last weekend in the Tower to Tower cycle along with friends at Tenby CC.

The ride started from Tower Bridge, London, and they cycled to the Channel Tunnel then in France to Newhaven, Dieppe, then onto the finish a the Eifel Tower in Paris - a ride of 200 miles - tres bien!

ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ TRIATHLON: Pippa and Richard Graham. This iconic event attracting athletes from over 40 countries begins with a ride out from Pier three on the paddleboat ‘The San Francisco Belle’ over to Alcatraz Island. The boat does not moor up so the athletes jump, approximately 1- foot into the choppy waters of the Bay and swim 1.5 miles back to the yacht harbour. Then follows a 18-mile cycle and an eight-mile run. Here is Pippa’s experience: “Scary swim jumping off the boat at Alcatraz and swimming back across the bay to San Francisco. It was cold and choppy, but the skyline was amazing! The bike was hills, hills, hills, but beautiful down the coast with stunning scenery and the run was challenging too. It took us under the Golden Gate Bridge, along the Coast to the famous ‘sand ladder’! It was warm and sunny and a buzzing atmosphere.?We really enjoyed it. I finished in three hours 41 minutes and Richard in three hours! It was definitely a once in a lifetime event, absolutely fantastic!”

BRECON SPRINT TRI: Ann Parker coming first in her age group.

PARC BRYN BACH AQUATHON SERIES: Vicky Jones coming in fourth female and 29th overall in a time of 39 minutes 08. This is a 750 meters swim followed by a 5km run in Tredegar.
