Well done Aces once again flying the flag!

THRUXTON ‘MASS ATTACK’ DUATHLON

Andy Adamson completed this event recently in two hours 38 minutes 22 seconds. This standard distance event took place on the mainly flat Thruxton Race Circuit in Andover, Hampshire, doing laps, a run of 7.8 miles to start, then a 23.6-mile cycle, ending with another 2.3-mile run. Andy said: “Unlike triathlons where I do well on the swim then get overtaken (lots!) on the bike and run, this time I got to do a lot of overtaking on the bike. It was great, and apart from an evil, evil headwind it was fun!”

GHOST RUN, CANTON, CARDIFF

Michael Matthews and wife Caroline took part in a five-mile trail run in the dark through mud and woodlands - this looked great fun!

ERYRI SNOWDONIA MARATHON

Will Lewis completed this in a fantastic time of three hours 56 minutes, Anne Parker in five hours 14 minutess (having only run 10 miles previously!) and husband John Parker five hours 20. The race starts just outside Llanberis. The route follows the A4086 and climbs to the top of the Llanberis Pass (Pen y Pass, 1,100-feet). Dropping down to the Pen Y Cwyryd junction, the race then follows the old road along to the campsite until it joins the A498. This 2km section is farm track, downhill, then the surface returns to the tarmac. There is a short, sharp uphill back up to the main road at the campsite. The route then continues to the Beddgelert (200-feet) and then continues along the A4085 to Waunfawr. From here, it is a rapid climb to about 1,200-feet at Bwlch y Groes and then downhill to the finish in Llanberis.

CROSS/MOUNTAIN MTB 50-mile SPORTIVE, Llandovery

Katherine Devonald Brace, Melanie Morgan and Tim Brace (along with the Ebsworth family) took part. This is an off-road cycle on either cyclocross or mountain bikes over 4,000-feet of climbing where you get down and dirty in the muddy terrain!
