With the the rain finally starting to give us little breaks, and the signs of spring starting, it brings us out of our winter hibernation and training in the dark cold mornings, to events starting to come back on the agenda, and members starting to put together training plans for events entered this coming season. Over the next few weeks there are cycle sportives and running events that members are signed up for, and reports will follow on these in due course.

FEEL GOOD INC -

TIME TRIAL

Unfortunately this one missed the paper the previous week, but some excellent performances from Aces members at the Feel Good Inc TT. With a 1, 2, 3 with Dan Mumford, Emil Chwistek, Luke Burton and Wendy Chwistek.

Rhys Jordan and the team down at Feel Good Inc have been running the 5.5k time trial for a while now and many of the Aces have gone down and taken part, but I don’t think we have had such a good set of results, with Dan as 1st male in 20:16:0, Emil as 2nd male in 21:22:4 and Luke as 3rd male in 23:33:7.

And not wanting to be outdone, Wendy was the 1st female home in 27:26:1. Well done to all.

HOKA ONE ONE TRAIL HALF MARATHON

Last Sunday saw Carlton Coates, Chris Lloyd and Chris’s daughter, Hannah Jane Lloyd, along with Vicky Jones, Kyle Wheeler and Ian Vickery heading up to Margam Country Park to take part in the Hoka One One Trail Half Marathon.

With the race starting by Margam Castle, the route was described as flat and fast for the first three miles, around the beautiful park, obviously to lull participants into a false sense of security, because you then hit the forestry and after the first 300 metres you hit your first hill, described as narrow and challenging.

The route carries on in an undulating fashion for the next few miles until you reach another climb, you then turn left on to some small fire tracks until you make your way back to Margam Country Park.

Then enjoy a lovely descent into Margam Country Park - just reserve some energy - there may be a little sting in the tail.

After speaking to Carlton, the sting in the tail came about with the signs saying ‘Caution - steep descent’. But as we all know, if you go down a steep descent, you usually have to go back up the other side, and this proved to be true.

GOOD, BAD AND

UGLY and

MARATHON 100 CLUB

Mandy Draper again is carrying on her achievements of completing two marathons over a weekend, with her competing in the Good, Bad and Ugly Marathon in Kent in a time of 4:04:33, then following this up with a second marathon in the 100 Club in 3:48:00.

Mandy certainly is keeping up her marathon running and, with times like these, she looks to be getting quicker all the time.

SEA SWIM SESSIONS

The sea swimming sessions for the club have not yet started, but Richard Day and Hayden Johns, who swam later than anyone else last year, have decided to brave the cold and get back into the water. Rather you than the rest of us.
