The popular Tenby 10k run will return this year, after organisers made a u-turn on finishing the event.
Back at the start of 2023, the organisers stated that it was with ‘great sadness’ they would no longer be organising the event at the seaside town which normally takes place in July - either this year, or in any subsequent years.
“It has become increasingly difficult and costly to organise this event, particularly in Tenby which has seen the number of events held in the town grow since the Tenby 10k first started some 20 years ago,” stated the organisers on social media.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone would supported the event over its long history, from those who took part, to those who gave their support out on the route as well as the numerous volunteers who help out on the day.
“We know many of you will be extremely disappointed with this announcement, but we hope you can understand our reasons.
“We wish you all the best for 2023 and I’m sure we'll see some of you out on the roads.”
Now though, the race which sees hundreds take part, and starts and finishes in the centre of Tenby, in Tudor Square - will return, after discussions between previous organisers TROT Running Club, and Tenby Town Council.
“We are pleased to announce that the Tenby 10k, will go ahead in 2023 - a local events team will now organise the race, with more information to follow in the week or two, and online entries to follow,” announced the The Tenby 10k Team this week.
“We look forward to seeing you all at this historic 10k event.”
The race returned in 2022 after a hiatus due to the pandemic.
