Carmarthenshire-based IT company, BCC IT are pleased to sponsor 13-year-old Saundersfoot junior sailor Aled Llewellyn-Jones who sails for the GB Topper class.

Aled moved into the Topper class during winter 2015/16.

In 2016, he achieved excellent results in his age category at the national championships in Scotland and in five UK national competitions earning him a place in the 2015/17 GBR International Topper intermediate squad.

Carol Llewellyn Jones, Aled’s mum, said: “Aled has recently achieved some fantastic results from his races. He has been competing locally at Saundersfoot Sailing Club and finished second in two handicap races and won all five races at the West Wales youth event (CYRC) in Milford Haven.”

Steve Mason, director of BCC IT, said: “We are proud to sponsor such a talented young sports person and to see his recent successes. He has been training hard for the upcoming national events, returning from Plymouth on a five-day residential camp training with his GB Topper squad. Aled’s next race is at the national series 5 to be held at Rutland water, June 17 and 18, representing GBR junior sailing in July at the 2017 World Topper Championships in Loctudy, France, followed by the UK nationals championships in Pwllheli in August representing Wales. We are pleased to see his progress and wish him the best of luck at his future races.”

As well as preparing for his races, Aled also helps with sail training and coaches other young sailors at his home club in Saundersfoot.
