In one of the most exciting Alan Brown Cup finals for years between two of the top teams in Division Four, St Clears defeated Camrose and Spittal by the narrow margin of three runs.
In the first innings, excellent bating by Saints skipper Andrew Edwards with 53 and Chris Rodenhurst with 35no, took St Clears to a total of 122-5.
Narberth rugby player Matthew Davies took 2-17 for Camrose and Spittal.
In reply, Camrose and Spittal were dismissed for 105 with Martyn Tweedie scoring 25 and James Venables 22. There were two wickets each for Martin Thomas and Ceri Jones.
In the second innings St Clears reached 125-6. Edwards again led from the front with a fine innings of 37 supported by all-rounder James Ingleton with 28. Phil Rees took 2-29 for Camrose and Spittal, who needed 142 to win.
Spectators at the neutral Whitland ground were gripped with the action as Camrose and Spittal chased down the winning target of 142 and had to contend with the sharp rain showers, as well as the Saints bowling.
James Venables scored 33, Joe John 27 and Marc Jones 24no, but the Camrose and Spittal innings fell just short on 138-8.
Andrew Edwards was nominated the man of the match by the adjudicator, Philip Marsden, of Penally.
