Ladies' captain Viv James greatly appreciated the support of players who attended her Charity Day at South Pembrokeshire Golf Club recently, in aid of Hounds for Heroes, with especial thanks going to members of other golf clubs.
The grand total of £1,385 was raised, and has been forwarded to the Hounds for Heroes charity who provide specially trained assistance dogs for injured and disabled men and women of the UK armed forces and civilian emergency services.
She was supported on the day by members, without whom the day could not have run as smoothly, and was grateful to them, as well as to The Old Kings Arms Hotel, The Courtyard Deli, The Room, Celtic Wine, Wisebuys and Hair Design for their generous donations and raffle prizes, with special mention of Mainport Engineering Ltd,, who generously donated £200 to the charity fund.
The day was warm and dry and the course in wonderful condition, so there was no excuse for bad scores. Prizes of M & S vouchers and bottles of wine where awarded to the winners.

Seniors' Section
Last Thursday, saw the summer season come to an end, when the South Pembs. Golf Club had the pleasure of welcoming their friends from Milford Haven.
A last minute request left Dick Wooding Jnr to lead the attack, with dad Dick Wooding senior holding up the rear.
Overall, the home team had a good win 5 to 2. Commiserations to Owain Picton and Peter Harries who found themselves up against Keith Rees and an inspired Ken Chichester, who had he been playing a stableford round, would have posted a remarkable 48 points, not to mention the two blobs - 'Shame on you Ken!'
Mike Lees and Chris Clarkson had to keep their wits about them against John Clarke and Dick Wooding snr.
Although John has only been playing on a regular basis for the past seven weeks, his long drives were amazing - there can be no doubt that his 28 handicap will drop rapidly. On the other end of the spectrum, Dick snr. gave a delightful display of straight driving and both canny putting and chipping.
Played in the true spirit of the game, Dick snr. and John are a great example of how the magnificent game of golf can be enjoyed by all ages and capabilities, truly inspirational.
Congratulations must be passed on to the ground staff, yet again the South Pembs. course was in superb condition. No matter what the elements throw at them, Barry and Percy come up trumps.
Thanks also to the stand-in caterers for the tasty meal they so cheerfully provided whilst Jan enjoys a well-earned holiday.
Good company, good weather, good food, good fun, with the certain knowledge of much more of the same next year, what more can we ask for?
