Captain Simon Davies took his happy band of swingers to play our annual friendly match against the very strong team of Preseli Forrest Golf Club, Letterston.

The sun shone again for us, and summer appears to have finally arrived, the golf course was in marvellous condition, and there was nothing but praise from the visitors regarding the wonderful setting.

Missing some of our best players, did not stop the South Pembrokeshire team producing a very welcome away win.

The scores were as follows: Simon Davies and Mac McCormack v Peter Billet and Snowy Soots away win 3-1; Ray Puddifoot and Harold James v Colin George and Randall Griffiths away win 1 up (last putt on final hole); Keith Rees and Mike Williams v Ian Artingstall and Mike Hancock away win 2-1; Peter Bowling and Angus Hayward v Brian Jones and Eddie Clfiary home win 5-4; Ken Chichester and Jim McGroary v Malcolm Walters and Ted Rolers home win 5-4; Keith Leverton and Brian Williams v Carl Richards and Mac Walker away win 2-1; Roy Harris and Nigel Williams v Tony Williams and Jeff Phillips away win 2-1; Chris Clarkson and Phil Watts v Ken Macloud and John Castle away win 6-4.

The overall score being South Pembs. 6 Preseli Forrest 2.

Following the match, a most agreeable meal was enjoyed by all the players, speeches were made, and welcomes were made for the friendly return game.

The return match takes place on the Barrack Hill course in two weeks time, we hope for good weather, and can be assured of good company.
