It may have been a good week for Welsh football after their win against Austria mid-week, but it was another miserable weekend for Pembrokeshire soccer as the majority of games were washed-out again.
Both teams played in their respective divisional cup rounds and both teams won meaning the chance for both teams to appear in cup finals for consecutive years is well on track.
The Firsts lost out to Pennar last year via a penalty shootout, a cruel and for some people and ignominious way to lose out, but if they continue to play like they did on Saturday, they should have no problems in progressing into the final once more.
They are nearly there following their 6-0 demolition of Milford United in the quarter-finals, with Steve Thomas having plenty to celebrate as he finished with a brace.
Other goals were scored by Sean Seymour-Davies, Nathan and Owain Evans, with veteran Marc Snelling also getting in on the act in what was one of their most potent displays of the season.
The seconds, winners of the Division Five Cup last year made it passed the first round as they defeated Cosheston Cougars 3-1 away from home.
Neil Thompson scored twice, once from the penalty spot, while Lloyd Evans grabbed the other in a comprehensive win against physical and often formidable opponents.
In league action, Tenby were able to entertain Hundleton and grabbed their third victory of the season with a 2-1 win. Billy Vaughan and Richard Perry were the men to score to help Tenby climb the table whilst condemning Hundleton to bottom spot.
In Division Two, a brace of goals by elder statesman Richard Bullock helped Carew win their fourth match of the season thus easing their relegation fears.
Bullock's master class allowed Carew to record a 2-1 victory away at Prendergast Villa who have often been Carew's boggy team in the past.
St. Florence lost out in the quarter-final of the Division Four Cup following an agonising 5-4 defeat against Pennar Robins' thirds, a result that came in extra time. It means that last year's beaten finalist bomb out of the competition just two steps away from allowing them to atone for last year's defeat against Milford United.
Better luck for Saundersfoot Sports' seconds though as they hosted Monkton Swifts and sent them packing following a 6-4 win.
James Davies was the hero of the hour as he scored a hat-trick, with the other goals coming from Ryan Howells, Phil Horsley and Gareth Hunt.
