Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club have enjoyed a great start to the 2013 season (writes C.G.). Our first match was within the Air Ambulance Open at Amroth Beach on January 13 - 15 per cent of the 120 competitors were SSAC members, which confirms the club's support for local good causes. Eighteen members fished, with 11 bringing fish to the scales.

Top anglers were: 1. Andy Young with a bag of 1.600kg (10 points); 2. Mike Williams with a bag weight of 1.590kg (eight points); 3. Mel Matthews with a bag of 1.400kg (six points); 4. Liam Marklew, bag of 1.365kg (four points); 5. Tom Watkins 905g, which was the heaviest fish of the match.

Golden Peg for the match was that of Peter Strydom. Prize rolled forward.

Our own Air Ambulance sponsor money is all in; we raised over £1,000 to present to the Air Ambulance at Amroth Arms in March. Well done to all who fished that match and a big thank you to all who were generous enough to sponsor us.

Last Sunday, we held a pegged match on Llansteffan Beach. Seventeen anglers braved the weather (minus 11C, heavy easterly snowy winds, starting in the dark) sponsored by Gerald Brace, of Jan'z Restaurant. Thanks for the hot soup after the match, Gerald, much appreciated. Five weighed in, and results for this length match were:

1. George Barritt with a flounder of 38cm (£100, Jan'z Restaurant Shield and 10 points); 2. Andrew Rogers with 63cm (£50 and eight points); 3. Llew Rose with 35cm (£25 and six points); 4. Pete Strydom 31cm (four points); 5. Tony Ormond 30cm.

Golden Peg was that of Joe Protheroe, who did not catch.
