The next two races of the Frostbite series happened this Sunday at SSC. Six crews turned up to race on this cloudy Sunday.
There was a F2-3 breeze blowing as the fleet took to the water. A Pendine-Monkstone-Harbour course was set by the OOD and the fleet set off.
Eloise retired early on after a few capsizes so there were five boats left racing. Keith, Nick and Steve and Harry did two laps of the course whilst Ed and Dave did three.
There was close competition between Ed in the RS100 and Dave in the Contender for the whole race, although Ed pipped Dave to the post. Overall, Ed came first, Dave came second and Keith in the Laser Standard came third.
The second race started with only four boats and finished with only three.
A new course of Outfall-Monkstone-Harbour was set by the OOD and the finishing three boats all completed four laps. It was a close contest been the three boats but in the end Ed came first, Dave came second and Keith came third. Thanks as ever go to Paul and Julia on OOD and to Mark, Trish and Roger on rescue cover.
On Sunday, October 14, there will be a review of the year’s sailing happening in SSC at 11 am. There will be tea and coffee available and cakes and biscuits - the more you bring, the more you get!
This is open to all sailors, helpers, families and friends. Come along and tell us what you liked this year and what could be improved.
Straight after this (approximately 12 pm) will be the annual prize giving where the winners for the individual series are announced as well as the overall winners of the season. The bar will be open so come along to see what you’ve won!
On the rowing front, the last club night on the water of 2018 was had last Thursday and what a beautiful evening it was. A final social “tea and toast” row to Tenby was had on Sunday until next year which everyone enjoyed but there were some interesting sea conditions! Erging started up again on Tuesday for the winter months. Let the pain commence!
The WBRC AGM is set to be held on Friday, October 12 at 7.30 pm in the sailing club.
We would be grateful if as many members as possible could show up and give some feedback on the season and suggest change for the next year - your contribution would be much appreciated.
The next two races of the Frostbite series happen on Sunday at 3.30 pm. See you there!
