Another weekend of sunshine for Saundersfoot and some great racing. The fleet just seems to be growing and competitors just keep getting better with it seems the younger sailors coming through and showing the old salts how it is done.
The course was set with an A-P-H and in a sunny f3, there were 13 boats out with a range of nine classes which makes some interesting racing and results and no more so this week with the first race being won by Aled in his Topper, second Ben in Laser Radial, third Maurice Contender.
The second race course was changed to suit the wind and an O-P-H was decided just before the wind moved around again, but they were off. Some very close sailing by all with an eventual winner of Ben in Laser Radial, second Aled in the Topper and Keith in third in the RS Aero.
Thanks to Simon and Tom on OOD. Terry, Tom, Anita, Charlie and Tina all out on rescue. Also not forgetting Clare on beach duty.
Next Week’s racing
Sunday starting at 17.30 with Mick and Judy as OOD and one race to control from hopefully a sunny spot on the corner of the harbour.
Club Training
The club has just hosted a PB2 course run by Jo and assisted by Huw and Malcolm which all seemed to go well and was made even better by the sunshine out in the bay. A group from Wiseman’s rowers all passed the course so well done to them.
Today (Friday), the club is running the very popular Push the Boat Out, currently all places are fully booked which is a good sign of the interest in both the club and sailing in Saundersfoot.
Level 1-2 sailing will be July 25-29 for anyone who signs up at Push the Boat Out.
The Bosun’s Locker
All boats now back on the water and waiting for Coppet Week to show of their new shining coats and engines.
Ramblings from
the locker
The new refurbished locker seems to be getting the use it was planned to from members repairing and using the equipment available to keep their prized boats in top order. Contact Mick for more details but we have a really great facility now available and if you want to repair your boat in the dry then look no further.
Coppet Week
This annual event which attracts over 70-plus boats each year, along with their owners and families is well into being one of the best yet. Currently, the club has received over 70 entries so get those applications in soon to avoid disappointment.
Please see the club’s website or Facebook pages for details as there are some good socials and great food not to missed, including a well-stocked and very cheap bar.
Coppet Week raffle prizes are currently being finalised but watch this space as St. Brides Spa Hotel are currently offering a very impressive number of prizes to be announced and tickets will soon be available.
Tickets will be available form all committee members, as well as from the club which is always open on a Wednesday and race day Sundays, we are also pleased to announce that Elements of Pembrokeshire located on The Strand will be supporting the club by selling these much sought-after tickets, as well from their very popular shop in the centre of the village.
