Frostbite Racing
Last Sunday's racing was held under bright, dry conditions but fulfilling the Frostbite, Series title as far as temperatures went! A Solo, a Laser, a Streaker and two Ospreys started the race after temporary race marks were placed with the help of Steve Hinksman, Terry Lightwood and Martin Andrews - the permanent marks having been taken up for the winter. A decent breeze persisted for the first race, but died away during the second requiring a shortened course to just two laps for the Osprey and a single lap for the slower classes. The stick markers were not too visible causing some interesting course corrections especially in the search for the 'Monkstone' mark! After a 'contretemps' near the start, Phil Barlow (Solo) retired, with Alan and Graham (Osprey) also retiring from the second race. The corrected positions for both races were: 1. Keith Jones (Streaker), 2. Peter Bower and son-in-law James (Osprey), 3. Mick Lightwood (Laser). It is proposed to buy Keith either a drogue or a miniature yardstick (with instructions where to put both of them) as a special Christmas present this year! Thanks to Paul Griffiths OOD in the box.
The next two Frostbite races are at 10 am on Sunday, December 8.
