Sunday Racing
Sadly, neither racing nor the round Caldey cruiser race was possible last Sunday. There was no wind, little visibility, no sun, just drizzly rain - very frustrating.
Saundersfoot Regatta, August 25-27
This weekend, there are plans for two races on Saturday, with a 10 am start, followed by an afternoon of fun with kayak races, beach activities and a range of family orientated frolics. The Sunday programme starts with a 60-minute pursuit race at 12.30 for all dinghies except Oppies, followed by a single race round the normal course for all classes of dinghy.
On Bank Holiday Monday, we have a race starting at 2 pm for dinghies and cruisers. The high handicap dinghies will follow a 'course round the cans' and the low handicap dinghies and cruisers will do one lap of the same, followed by a more challenging extended course further out in the bay.
Once again, the forecast is not looking at all helpful, with very strong winds expected.
However, do not be put off should the weather not be suitable for sailing races over the weekend as we still have events and activities for you and your families to enjoy, on or off the water.
If it's really wet on Saturday, we have a programme of games in reserve suitable for all the family so you can spend an enjoyable afternoon in the dry and warm clubhouse. Light lunches will be available.
Unless the rain is coming down in sheets, the beach has disappeared in the mist or the seas are sporting a crop of surfers keen to ride the big one, the kayak race will go ahead as planned, with an altered course to suit the conditions. Hopefully, we will still be able to go ahead with activities like football and other games on the beach too. Bring a brolly and take part in the Harbour Treasure Hunt at 6.
The evening's food and entertainment are not of course affected by the weather, so we hope to see lots of you in the club over the weekend.
Whatever the weather throws at us, we will have some fun and it's a great opportunity to catch up with friends old and new.
Evening Sailing
Next week there is an evening sail at 5 pm on Friday, August 31.
