Fundraising and meetings
The new management committee met for the first time on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Myrddin Dennis.
He welcomed the new committee and wished Diane Rigden, Mike Ashbridge and Paul Blayney well in their new roles as vice-chairlady, treasurer and fixture secretary, respectively, as well as welcoming new committee recruits John Dugmore and Graham Hughes.
He also congratulated Paul Blayney on his appointment as junior vice-president of the county.
A number of items were discussed during the meeting, including fundraising and arranging pre-season meetings for both the ladies' and men's sections.
Fundraising kicks-off on Thursday, February 6, with a quiz evening being arranged by Graham Hughes and Dennis Reed. Sponsorship has been donated by Station Garage, Kilgetty, (Hyundai), for which the club extends its grateful thanks. Prize money up for grabs is £30 and anyone wishing to enter a team is asked to contact Graham on 810194. Last year's event was a huge success and it is hoped this year's will be too. Cost is £10 per table (maximum four in a team) and the evening starts at 7 pm.
On Friday, February 28, there will be a cawl evening, with entertainment, while on Saturday, March 29, there will be a Family Fortunes Fun Evening. Notices for names are up in the clubhouse for those wishing to attend to sign. There is also a notice appealing for fundraising ideas from members who wish to put forward suggestions.
The ladies' section will be holding their pre-season meeting - which will include taking county and Welsh competition fees and appointing team captains - on Monday, February 3, at 5.30 pm, while the men will meet on Wednesday, February 19, at 6 pm.
Membership Fees
Your membership fee for 2014 is now due. Whilst the green does not open until the April 5, the club has to meet significant running costs throughout the year and so the prompt payment of your membership fee would be much appreciated. You can pay this fee to treasurer Mike Ashbridge at the start of the following three events at the clubhouse: the ladies meeting at 6 pm on February 3, the quiz night at 7 pm on February 6 and the men's meeting at 6 pm on February 19. If you have decided not to renew your membership this year, could you please let Mike know on (01834) 862977 or 07810 305542 so that member details in the 2014 handbook can be as accurate as possible.
Help for Heroes
At the ladies festive dinner, in lieu of giving Christmas cards, each member gave a donation to charity. Sue Roden was the bowler pulled out of the hat to choose the benefacting charity and she picked Help for Heroes. Sue has now received a letter of thanks from the charity for the £54 donation which they were pleased to accept from such a good fundraising idea.
