Tenby United Rugby Football Club is currently funding a community coach to work in the local primary schools.

Aled Waters will build on the club’s community engagement initiative which is all about putting something back into the club’s schools catchment area, with a view to encouraging more local children to take up rugby.

Aled graduated with a Bsc (Hons) in Sport Coaching and Performance, and is an active Level 2 coach. He has recently returned from a fantastic trip to New Zealand where he coached the Mahurangi J1 and North Harbour Northern Reds.

Aled is well known in the Scarlets region and has links to many clubs in the area.

He has coached the Pembrokeshire county Under 15s and Under 19s; the Scarlets Under 16s and combined; Whitland girls Under 18s and ladies; and Tenby Under 17s.

His rugby career began at Tenby Swifts Under 10s - Under 16s; he progressed onto the Pembrokeshire County squads, Scarlets West u16s, Narberth and Carmarthen Quins Youth; and as a young adult he played for Carmarthen Quins 2nds, Llanybydder, Tenby and Whitland Rugby Clubs.

Aled is a great role model for the children and he introduces the sport of rugby to all ages, with fun and enthusiasm.

Rachel Grieve, chair of Tenby United Swifts Section, said the club was delighted to appoint Aled who has a real passion for the game and will help the club to develop the relationships with primary schools by delivering rugby programs into schools.

Parents of any players interested in joining the sides at Tenby United Swifts RFC should contact Rachel Grieve via email at: [email protected] for more information.
