During the past 10 years Pembroke RFC’s senior men’s squad has enjoyed unprecedented success under the guidance of Head Coach Geraint Lewis, his Assistant Kyle Davies and a dedicated management team.

This period saw the club create a Welsh club record, with the Youth, guided by Ross Taylor and his management group, playing their WRU Bowl Final at the Principality Stadium a week before the First XV played their WRU Bowl Final there also.

Everyone at the club is indebted to the coaches and the players involved during this period of the club’s history for their enthusiasm, commitment, determination and dedication in bringing so much pride to our community in those joyous times.

However, following the Covid affected period and two very challenging seasons, where the club has witnessed a dramatic decline in player numbers and results at senior level, along with the resignation of the Head Coach, a long debate involving senior players and the management committee in mid May made the decision to apply to the WRU for relegation.

On May 25 the WRU confirmed that the club would operate in Division 3 (A) West next season, a move that the vast majority in the club see as a positive means by which the future sustainability of senior rugby can be assured and a pathway provided for the thriving Youth and Junior sections.

Operating in this Division will see the return of many local derbies, rekindle many old relationships, boost business and allow the synthesis of a competitive squad under the tutelage of the new senior coaching team being assembled around the very experienced new Head Coach, who is ex-Pembroke player Gary Price; he will head up a group that will be actively recruiting and putting together their game plans, prior to the start of pre-season training at the start of July.

The club’s digital leader Eleri Williams has been working very hard on the new club website, which is due to be launched this summer, whilst the club will be holding a series of events to say a very sincere thank you to Geraint and Kyle, and a number of officers, who have retired from their posts after many years of sterling service.

Again we are extremely grateful to Woodenbale 2000, as they have agreed a three year sponsorship deal as the main sponsors of our club.

Similarly, we are equally thankful for the continued support from all other sponsors at all levels across all age groups in the club, as their support is invaluable to providing continued opportunities for youngsters and adults alike to play and enjoy the game.

The Directors and Management Committee would like to post a sincere thank you to all of the dedicated and hard working volunteers, who have kept our thriving age groups operating so well throughout a long season, to congratulate all of the youngsters that gained representative honours and the First XV on reaching the first ever Pembs KO Plate Final and to wish everyone a restful summer break.
