PEMBROKE RFC held its AGM recently, which saw the club’s officers and management committee installed and the auditors confirm that the club, after another round of investment in off season essential projects and the usual grounds renovations, remains in a healthy financial position, writes Darrel Willington.

Lloyd Davies was also confirmed as the senior men’s captain for his second term.

Recently, a group from the youth section participated in the Quins 7s tournament, where they performed very creditably.

The youth have started their pre-season training program under the new management team lead by head coach Phil Greenwood.

Meanwhile the senior men and women’s squads have also started their pre-season training in preparation for summer friendlies.

The pre-season friendlies are as follows.

First XV play Pontardawe home August 9 KO 2.30pm, a Milford development squad August 16 at home, Narberth Athletic away on Friday August 22 in Pembs KO Cup Rd 1 and Tonyrefail home on August 30th.

The Panthers will play Tycroes away on August 17 and they are scheduled to take part in an August Cardiff 10 a side tournament, prior to starting their WRU West Wales League programme against Newcastle Emlyn at home on Sept 14.

The youth section are yet to confirm their pre-season fixtures and coaches report that the players are training hard.

The junior age groups will be holding their annual Registration Day on Sunday August 17, starting at 10am, they hope to have a BBQ and some fun games on the day; the section is already starting the planning to host the May ’26 County Junior Finals day.

The first team will be wearing a new kit this season sponsored by Woodenbale 2000, Sealand Ltd, Cresselly Arms, Guy Thomas &Co, CFS Ltd, Milford Chiropractic Practice.

The club is also very grateful to Ledwood Mechanical Engineering for their ongoing sponsorship of home match programmes. The Directors and Management Committee are also extremely grateful to all other sponsors, who give so generously to support the many age groups and the continuing refurbishment and development of facilities at the club.

The very popular Thursday coffee mornings continue as do the Friday evening social rugby sessions (5.30-6.30 for U16s and 6.30-7.30 for 18+) which are for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.

The social committee are planning a number of ticketed events, which will be advertised shortly in the clubhouse.

Congratulations to Eleri Williams on winning the £500 July prize in the club’s monthly 150 club draw; there are still places available to join, anyone interested should see Mary James for mandate forms.
