A former Whitland RFC player has landed a silver medal at the Olympics for Team GB as part of the stunning success of the rugby sevens side out in Rio.
Great Britain lost out on a gold medal by losing 43-7 to Fiji in the final of the first ever Men’s 7s tournament to be played at an Olympic Games finals, but 25-year-old James ‘Cubby’ Davies of Bancyfelin, a former Pembrokeshire schools and youth player, who has also played for Whitland RFC and Carmarthen Quins before joining the Scarlets, has now been tipped to make his mark for the Welsh international 15-a-side following his individual performances at the event.
The flanker, younger brother of Welsh international centre Jonathan Davies, was also named in the the official 7s team of the tournament.
“If I ever write a book, Rio would be a decent chapter, in more ways than one,” he wrote on his Twitter account
