Heavy rain leading up to Saturday washed out Narberth and Whitland rugby fixtures last weekend.

A waterlogged pitch caused the postponement of Whitland's home match against Blackwood and it was the same story at Cyncoed where a late phone called the match off, minutes before the players' bus left Narberth for the fixture away to Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Only three Championship fixtures were played. In the match of the day at Bargoed Park, Ebbw Vale reclaimed top spot in the table after overcoming a deficit of three points at half-time to win 10-3.

With scores level at three-all, a late long distance interception try by winger Wes Cunliffe, converted by Josh Lewis, moved Bargoed down to second place in the table.

Third placed Newbridge went down to a surprise 9-7 defeat away to Beddau and Bonymaen had a 11-3 win at home to lowly Pontypool.

Narberth remain in fourth spot and Whitland are still bottom of the table, but it will be a surprise if they don't finish the season in a mid-table position.

Narberth and Whitland will both be without fixtures again this weekend, because of the international at Cardiff between Wales and Argentina.

The next Championship fixtures are on Saturday, November 17, when the Borderers travel to Bonymaen and the Otters will be home to the Dairymen from Llanharan.
