Over the last two weekends, Pendine have played three league games. The first was at home to Five Arches on a lovely warm afternoon with both teams fighting for every shot and at ten ends it was fairly close in total.

On rink two, Mal Evans's four were 13-8 up on Ashley Hooper's lads. Rink three had Arwel Edwards's unit 11-5 up on Clive Webb's four. Rink four saw Stewart K Ts' vets 5-12 down against the young and talented Ben Simmons's boys. Then on rink five, DKT was just 12-9 up on Tony Brown's four.

Playing at home on Saturday last against the bottom team in the league, Pendine were somewhat humiliated, with Milford eagerly and deservedly looking for points.

On rink two, Arwel Edwards was down at tea 4-12, but pulled back well to win 18-16.

Rink three had Stewart KT 15-2 up at tea versus Gareth Barrett's four and Pendine maintained the momentum to win 25-7.

But on the next two rinks matters were awful, with very poor bowling from the Pendine players who were like novices and struggled all afternoon.

Rink four saw Mal Evans down 2-14 at tea and lost 13-23. Rink five was worse, with DKT's unit 8-11 down at tea and they deteriorated thereafter to lose 9-35 to Tony Ellyatt's four, with skip Tony and lead Brian Graham on song and helped by Ron and Jim.

Rink scores (Pendine first) were as follows:

D. James, G. Lewis, A Collindge, A. Edwards 18; L. Cooper, W. Jones, G. Jones, D. Griffiths 16.

What a transformation from the previous day's sorry defeat! Pendine arrived at Saundersfoot with virtually the same rinks, except the lead in Mal Evans's four, where young Robin Hawker adpated well. The whole match was a tough one, but Pendine's bowling really improved, and it certainly needed to after the previous day's debacle.

On rink two, DKT's four faced the mercurial Myrddin Dennis's unit, with Roy Kennion at lead, and after 10 ends it was 8-8, at 15 ends 14-16, and Pendine won four of the last six ends to get home 20-19.

Rink three had young Arwel Edwards facing the much younger Joe Dennis, with farmer Hughes at three, and after five ends, Arwel was 0-8 down. However, by the 15th end he had picked up a five and a four and led 15-13, then upped the ante and won five of the last six ends, to record a 24-15 success.

Rink four saw Mal Evans's boys against Brian McKehon's four, including former Pendine player Dai (West Marsh) Roberts at three. After five ends, Mal was 7-3 up; at 10 ends 11-9 up; at 15, 11-18 down, but rallied to draw 20-20.

Rink five had Stewart KT opposed by Steve Dick, with his old pal Nev Ruff at lead. At five ends it was 5-5; at 10 ends 10-11; at 15 ends 15-13, and then winning most of the last ends saw Pendine to a 22-14 victory.

Rink scores (Pendine first) were as follows:

P. Leeds, N. Thomas, D. Bosier, D. King Thomas 20; R. Kennion, T. Wheeler, B. Desmond, M. Dennis 19.

D. James, G. Lewis, A. Collindge, A. Edwards 24; A. Brace, P. Blaney, G. Hughes, J. Dennis 15.

R. Hawker, C. Rance, E. Davies, M. Evans 20; D. Reed, M. Oliver, D. Roberts, B. McKehon 20.

C. Thomas, D. Stewart, M. Dix, S. King Thomas 22; N. Ruff, M. Young, N. Hensman, S. Dick 14.

Pendine picked up 28 points from the last three games. Next week they are away to Whitland, the second team in Division One. Let's hope the weather improves.
