For the first time this season the cricket fields of Pembrokeshire were bathed in sunshine, meaning batsmen were looking forward to taking guard against the county's best bowlers. Whitland certainly filled their boots as they reached 200 all out at Cresselly, with Jonathan Thomas becoming the second player from the club to score a century this season after crafting a fine 111. His monumental innings included 15 fours and two 6s as the home team's bowlers were put to the sword. Adam Davies was also in the runs with 42 before the innings came to a close. Cresselly were never in the hunt, being bowled out for 116 to record an 84-run defeat as Mark Lee's fine form continued with a 4-32 haul. Thomas was in on the act with ball in hand, too, taking 2-4 to help the Borderers achieve their second win of the season. For Cresselly, Phil Williams hit 30, while Lynne Richards and Stefan Jenkins took three wickets apiece, the latter completing 10 wickets during the last two games Narberth were also in the runs after scoring 227-8 at St. Ishmaels as young Jordan Howell top scored with a fine 82. Marc Hughes also ran the home team ragged with 70. In reply, Tish fell just short with their run chase, reaching 210-6, with Ben Quartermaine and Matthew Johns taking two wickets each. The match of the day was played at Carew where home team batsmen Ian Sefton and Nick Scourfield put on 157 for the first wicket against Haverfordwest. Their brilliance ensured the home side reached 253-5 against the Town, with Sefton striking a fluent 94 and Scourfield an excellent 65. Rhys Davies was also in the runs, scoring 30 not out, while Tim Hicks showed his all-round prowess with a 2-36 haul and Sean Whitfield 2-35 as the visitors were reduced to 168-8 at the close. Shock of the day went to Llanrhian as they beat leaders Neyland, while Lawrenny beat Saundersfoot by one wicket as they chased down 172. Saundersfoot were indebted to Paul Mansbridge's 58 for their total as Alistair Edwards took 3-43, while Steve Lewis struck a brisk 43 to ensure the win as Jack and Sam Franklin both took four wickets. Whitland seconds hung on for a draw at home to Pembroke by finishing on 131-9 in reply to the visitors' 151 all out. Stuart Harries took the bulk of the wickets in his 4-23 haul, while Paul Webb took 2-39. In reply, Matthew Webb scored 25 and Webb senior 23 as they avoided defeat by the skin of their teeth. Pembroke's star players were Paul White with 30 and Jack Harries with 23 as Sean Powell took 3-30. Carew seconds went down by five wickets at Hook as they were bowled out for 75. Only Haydn Shapcott with 40 got to grips with the home bowlers, while Ceri Brace, playing his first game after returning from Pembroke, took 3-13. It was a better day for Cresselly seconds as they won by nine wickets at Burton. The away bowlers reduced the home team to 123-8 after Harry Thomas took 3-26 and Sam Harts and Matthew Lewis two wickets each. Thomas was in the runs, striking a superb 39 not out, but even he was overshadowed by Iwan Izzard, who hit an unbeaten 55. In division three, Kilgetty were without a game after Saundersfoot seconds failed to raise a side, while Narberth seconds lost at home to Stackpole, meaning they are still without a win so far this season. Batting first, Narberth reached 147-7 after Andrew Williams hit 39 and Mike Williams 22. Williams was also in the wickets, taking 2-18, but some good hitting by the visitors saw them over the line. Josh Davies hit 61 not out in the chase and John Williams 75 not out, while Huw Cox took 3-26. Lamphey remain top after a hard fought win over Crymych. Batting first, The Stags scored 180-9, with James Skeels batting beautifully for 43 (3x6), while Hywel Gibbs hit 38. Mike May ensured they posted a competitive total with 25 not out at the close. In reply, Crymych were going well as Sam Kurtz smashed 46, but 4-34 by Skeels and two wickets each for Gibbs, Steve Vale and Andrew Skeels ensured they won by 39 runs. David Dunfee's shock return for Pembroke Dock from Whitland helped them beat Neyland seconds by seven wickets, although star performer was Nick Daley, who took 3-30 and scored 60 not out in their victory. Neyland scored 132 all out as John Cumani and Dunfee were also in the wickets. Daley was supported by Jake Griffiths (30) in the chase and Peter Kingdom was unbeaten at the end with 36. Hundleton remain top of division four after an impressive seven-wicket win at Carew Thirds who batted first and scored 75 all out as Paul Fox took 4-25 and Steffan Williams 3-15. Only Harry Cook got to grips with the bowlers as he scored 22. Fox was in the runs, too, scoring 20 not out, while Liam Williams hit 21 in the win. Lawrenny seconds secured a more impressive victory after bowling out Llangwm seconds for 48 as George Eddison took 3-14 and John Fuller 4-1. They reached their total for the loss of just one wicket as Steve Campbell hit 22 and Adrian Harries 15. Narberth thirds gained a 40-run win over Llechryd seconds after batting first and scoring 153 all out thanks to Shane Morgan's 51 and Huw Simkins' unbeaten 23. Sean Thomas was also in the runs with a brief 20. The away side were then bundled out for 113 after Thomas took 7-16, while Clew Jones took 1-17. Pembroke Dock seconds wasted no time in beating Cresselly thirds after securing a 10-wicket win. They bowled the visitors out for 92, with John Davies taking 6-21. Only Luke Cole with 22 and Matthew Palmer with 21 caused them any problems. In reply, Glyn Griffiths rushed to an unbeaten 60, while Mal Morris hit 25 not out. Up the road in Pembroke and the home team's seconds won by 82 runs against Haverfordwest fourths after scoring 179 all out thanks to Don Patel's 71, Steve Mitchell's 30 and Will Davies 24. Nigel Phillips spun the team to victory with five wickets, while Dan Wood took three to wrap up the win. Meanwhile, at Hundleton, Riaan Strydom's good form continued with an unbeaten 77 in their second team win over St. Ishmaels. The visitors were all out for 119 thanks to Dean Williams's 7-3 haul, while Steve Williams with 25 not out helped Strydom win the game Kilgetty seconds eased to a nine wicket win over Hook thirds after bundling the visitors out for 73. The home side had no issues with knocking off the runs as Liam Cullen scored 34 not out and Jack Turner and unbeaten 33. Whitland thirds also took the points at Neyland thirds after gaining a huge 127-run victory. Batting first, they reached 215-5 thanks to Gwynne Phillips's 56, B. Evans's 77 and P. Thomas's 35. Thomas was also in the wickets, taking 3-20, while Dewi Davies took 3-10 for a comprehensive victory. Finally, Lamphey bowled out Crymych seconds for 36 to move to the top of division six as Giuseppe Trimarco took 5-20 and Sean Donahue 3-6. Trimarco then scored 15 not out to seal the win.
