Week three of the Nicholas Insurance Services Pembroke County Cricket League was again hit by the weather, although like the previous two weeks, it threw up some interesting results and some staggering performances. Of the three Whitland teams, only their seconds were able to take to the field as they drew away at Llangwm, while in division one, Narberth let a gilt-edged opportunity slip at home to Cresselly as they had the visitors on the ropes at 54-6 after being bowled out for 109. With the pitch on the damp side after the heavy rain in the week, scoring runs was always going to be difficult and that proved to be the case for the home batsmen as only Marc Hughes with 35 and Kyle Quartermaine with 19 made any headway in their disappointing total after Stefan Jenkins took 7-27. In reply, two wickets apiece by Sean Coaker, Ben Quartermaine and Ian Hughes had Cresselly in trouble before a seventh wicket partnership between Simon Cole (37 not out) and Mike Shaw (26) saw the visitors home. Current champions Neyland made it three from three as they defeated Lawrenny after bowling the visitors out for 96 and passing it for three wickets. Alistair Edwards made an unbeaten 24 for the away side, while Andrew Cole hit 22, but it was never enough against this year's front runners, despite Brad McDermott Jenkins taking two wickets. Saundersfoot hung on for a draw at home to Llanrhian as the wet conditions made scoring difficult. The visitors posted 146-7, with Simon Wood and Nick Cope both taking a brace of wickets before the home side settled on 121-5. Paul Mansbridge struck 39 for the home team, while Cope proved his worth with four 6s and two boundaries in his 40. Meanwhile, Haverfordwest beat St. Ishmaels after Simon Holliday's unbeaten 66 helped them reach 187-3, before Adam James took 6-19 in helping bowl out the visitors for 107. Carew seconds disposed of Haverfordwest seconds with a 60-run victory after Ian Sefton's 76 and Lewys Hicks's 45 helped them reach 171-9. Tom Davies and Sean Whitfield steamed in to snare three wickets apiece, with the latter only conceding eight runs in the process as The Town were skittled for 111. Cresselly seconds entertained Hook, but went down by seven wickets after being bowled out for 85. Rhydian Rees provided the only bright spot for the home team with his 40. Harry Thomas took 2-19 in reply, but the visiting batsmen were on form for an easy win. Pembroke produced a fine team performance in beating Llechryd by three wickets after bowling the home side out for 131, with Jonathan Rogers taking 3-24, Lewys Wilkes 3-21 and Ceri Brace 3-57. Wickets tumbled at regular intervals in the run chase, but Barry Evans's composed 37 and 25 not out by Jack Harries saw them home. Whitland seconds could only reach 63-5 in reply to Llangwm's 141-8 as they held out for a draw. A spell of 3-34 by Mark Webb and 2-24 by father, Paul, helped reduce the home side to a chaseable total, yet only Mark could get flowing with the bat as he stayed unbeaten on 23 at the close. In division three, Kilgetty's home match with Crymych was abandoned, while Narberth seconds hung on for a draw at Camrose and Spittal after the home side scored 230-4, thanks mainly to Dan Wilkes's century; Richard Howells taking 2-66 Andrew Williams scored 57 not out for the visitors as they closed on 107-6 Six wickets by Anton John and half centuries by Jamie White and Chris Boyett allowed Pembroke Dock to ease home against Herbrandston, who were skittled out for 71 in reply to the home team's 214-7, with White hitting 53 and Boyett an unbeaten 59. Nick Daley also found form in striking 32, while John Camani's return to the club resulted in him taking 3-19 and scoring 29. Stackpole moved into second place following a nine-wicket win over Neyland seconds, who scored 123 for 8 after Richard Mackay's 3-15 and a brace by Alan Webster and Lewys Gibby. Rob Mathias hit 40 not out in reply, but James Adie stole the show with his unbeaten 73 for an easy home win. It was the David Blackwell show at Lamphey as the all-rounder took 5-8 to bowl out Saundersfoot seconds for just 56 after his earlier unbeaten 62 helped the home side post 168-8. Scott Brunton found form with the bat with 21, while Peter McGilloway struck a patient 26 in the home team's winning total. Only two games were played in divisions four and five, while none went ahead in division six.  In the fourth division, Carew thirds hammered Burton thirds by 136 runs. Adam Hughes blasted a brilliant 117 not out for the home side and Jeremy Knox 41, before Jeremy Griffiths took 4-12 to seal the win. Hundleton remain top after a seven-wicket win at home to Haverfordwest thirds. The visitors batted first and scored 140-9 after Daniel McNiffe took 3-41 and Ben Adams 2-17 In reply, Jonathan Williams scored 76 not out and Scott Richards 35 in a comfortable victory. The beauty of cricket is that age is no barrier to success and this was proved as Selwyn Cole rolled back the years in striking a hard-hitting 66 not out in Cresselly thirds' 92-7 against Pembroke seconds. His innings was the only highlight as Dan Wood and Sam Davies both took two wickets each, while Don Patel's 60 helped them win by eight wickets. Meanwhile, Pembroke Dock seconds drew with Llanrhian seconds after they could only manage 106-6 in reply to the home team's 136-9. John Davies took 5-28 for the away side, but only James Olyott with 13, Jamie Hiatt with 13 and Craig Butland with 21 found fluency with the bat as they hung on for a share of the spoils.
